The people that started, funded and made CityROCK a reality:

Mike and Ruth Behr have been a key member in the development of crags in SA, having bolted and opened routes for the last 40 years. Mike runs Wild Exposure and originally came on as a builder for CityROCK and later owner when he built JHB. Mike and Ruth are based in Pretoria, if they are not on their Mountain Bikes they are climbing at their farm Tranquilitas in Boven. 

Robert Breyer grew up in Johannesburg and became involved in the climbing gym business while living in San Francisco. Robert is a true trad dad and loves crack climbing. He is based in CT and always game to show new CityROCKers the ropes (if you can keep up with him). He is the managing owner of CityROCK (the big boss) so be sure to give him a belay when he comes to visit. 

Trish Breyer grew up in Cape Town and came to CityROCK via the merger of the CityROCK and Mountain Mail Order in 2012. Trish is an active climber and a badass slaydie. Her head game on Trad is solid and often leads pitches Robert is scared to...sshhh don't tell him we shared this ;) 

Margaret and Charles Edelstein, a.k.a. Snort, have been a fixture of the South African climbing scene for over 40 years. Originally from Johannesburg, Charles used to call the Magaliesberg Kloof his hunting ground. Charles is an orthopedic surgeon on rest days and the king of Yellow Wood (Cape Town), having opened many of the big wall climbs. 

Cally Bishop started as a CityROCKer in 2015 with the final setup and opening of JHB which soon became her home. Cally has moved up the ranks over the years and has been the key driver behind many of the events, operations and systems in place. Cally was awarded shares for her continued drive to grow and improve CityROCK in every aspect and the latest addition; for the project management and opening of PTA. 

Cally is an adventure enthusiast and can be found either climbing, hiking, or mountain biking when she is not bouncing around the branches.

Tarryn Maclean is the OG CityROCKer starting in 2004 when CityROCK Obz was just a baby. Tarryn has been instrumental in the growth of CityROCK over the years and mom to many of our team (and some customers). Tarryn was awarded shares for her long dedicated service to the company as a key manager in the Cape Town branch.

Tarryn not only climbs rocks but also collects them and will happily share a crystal from her collection to help boost your mood.
